National Organizations


American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP)
The Academy of Student Pharmacists is the student section of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), representing more than 18,000 student pharmacists at all colleges of pharmacy in the United States and Puerto Rico. The mission of the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) is to be the collective voice of student pharmacists, to provide opportunities for professional growth, to improve patient care, and to envision and advance the future of pharmacy.


Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA)
SNPhA was founded in 1972 as an affiliate of the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA). SNPhA is an educational and service association of students who are concerned about pharmacy issues, professional development, and the lack of minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professions.


Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy (SSHP)
SSHP focuses on the interests of hospital and allied health professionals. It is affiliated with GCSHP (Gulf Coast), TSHP (Texas), and ASHP (National) organizations. The society hosts bimonthly meetings with guest speakers from many different areas of the profession, such as ambulatory care, consulting, hospital, and many more.


NCPA (National Community Pharmacists Association)
The National Community Pharmacists Association, founded in 1898 as the National Association of Retail Druggists (NARD), represents the pharmacist owners, managers, and employees of more than 23,000 independent community pharmacies across the United States. Not only focused on those who are interested in creating their own pharmacy, but also focused on the business aspect of retail pharmacy. Exceptionally benefiting those who would love to become a pharmacy manager.


Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI)
CPFI is a worldwide, interdenominational ministry of individuals working in all areas of pharmaceutical service and practice.


Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy-Society of Industrial Pharmacy Students (AMCP-SIPS)
AMCP-SIPS is designed for students interested in possible careers in managed care pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry.


Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP)
ACCP's students chapters help familiarize students with the field of clinical pharmacy by providing information about careers and opportunities within the field of clinical pharmacy; promoting dedication to excellence in patient care, research, and education; and encouraging the professional development necessary to function within an interdisciplinary team; and advocate for the role of clinical pharmacists in providing direct patient care, including evaluation of the patient and his or her pharmacotherapeutic needs; initiation, modification, or discontinuation of patient-specific pharmacotherapy as well as ongoing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and follow-up.

Local Organizations


Indian Pharmacy Students Association (IPSA)
The purpose of this organization is to promote awareness of the Indian culture within the University of Houston College of Pharmacy, provide our members with opportunities to further their knowledge of the pharmacy profession, and to educate and serve the South Asian population of Houston.


Mexican-American Pharmacy Students Association (MAPSA) 
The purpose of MAPSA is to encourage and promote unity among pharmacy students with common interests, values, and backgrounds. Members participate in a variety of activities which include community outreach, fundraising projects, Spanish peer tutoring and counseling within an entertaining atmosphere outside the classroom. MAPSA serves to promote cultural awareness by educating, assisting and supporting Hispanic communities through healthcare and community development.


Vietnamese-American Pharmacy Student Society (VAPSS)
The mission of VAPSS is to encourage all Vietnamese-American pharmacy students to participate and become well-informed in all aspects of the pharmacy profession.

Professional Fraternities 


Kappa Epsilon
Kappa Epsilon is a professional pharmacy fraternity, whose mission is to empower its members to achieve personal and professional fulfillment. The fraternity was founded in 1921 and the UH chapter, Upsilon, was formed in 1953. KE supports breast cancer awareness through various events such as Awareness Week, and the Susan G. Komen Fun Run.


Kappa Psi
Kappa Psi is a co-ed pharmaceutical fraternity. It is the world’s oldest and largest pharmaceutical fraternity, founded in 1879. The Delta Delta chapter at UH was chartered in 1963. The goals of the fraternity are to develop fellowship, industry and sobriety and foster high ideals, scholarship and pharmaceutical research.


Phi Delta Chi
Phi Delta Chi (PDC) was chartered in 1883. UH obtained its charter in 1953. The PDC Alpha Tau Chapter at UH is a co-ed fraternity of professional men and women who are striving for success as future pharmacists by becoming involved in national, state and local activities.

Honor Societies


Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS)
Phi Lambda Sigma is the National Pharmacy Leadership Honor society. The UH Upsilon chapter was founded in 1988. The Society recognizes and promotes quality leadership in pharmacy.


Rho Chi Society
The Rho Chi Society is the honorary organization for the profession of pharmacy. The Beta Omicron chapter of UH was established in 1956. Membership is by invitation and is based on high academic achievement in the professional curriculum.
